Reflections in History

Specializing in the History, Photography, and
Signature Habits of Lyndon B. Johnson

From his early years as a young Congressman
and Senator through the years of his Presidency,
Lyndon B. Johnson remains a fascinating study in
personality, power, and politics.

1960’s Signature Examples

Lyndon B. Johnson signature examples from the later 1960’s are probably the most collected due to the historical context of his Presidency. Also, there are many collectors that seek in particular those signatures that were signed as President. The 1960’s and the short time period of the 1970’s are the best researched and authenticated signature types for Lyndon Johnson. However, identifying authentic signatures from this time period are not without challenge. I continue to see signatures misidentified and incorrectly authenticated by the collector and the professional. I am certain many of these are honest mistakes due to what I consider the lack of specialized information on the subject. There are of course, many generalized sources that include LBJ signature examples, but none that provide a detailed or substantive chronology of signature types with comparative analysis. There have been many instances where I have felt compelled to make notification of questionable mistakes, but it is not my obligation to police such instances. It is the collector’s responsibility to seek out such websites as this, read publications such as mine, and become knowledgeable of those items you seek. Hopefully, this website and my publications will assist you in making such judgements.

Should you have a Lyndon Johnson signed item from this decade, I would love to see it and add it to the database of known examples.
